    Re your post which included;
    "... Just days ago, ASIO admitted that their resources are not up to the boat people task. There is no doubt that people are entering without the checks for security and medical that they would absolutely have to face at the airport. ..."

    My comment about the need to properly resource onshore processing included the issues to which you referred.

    Until new legislation is passed offshore processing is defunct & the government therefore must respond accordingly.

    As part of that response our naval presence in the Indian Ocean to the south of Indonesia must be well resourced - Austal could probably provide some VERY fast ferries & longer term even their new littoral combat ships - instead of more hideously expensive submarines that rarely get to sea.

    Cooperation with our neighbours also has to be greatly improved so that we intervene & commence screening before boats set sail. If that means better resourcing for Indonesia; so be it.

    Once asylum seekers are accepted into Australia & placed in communities our integration programs must be properly resourced - otherwise our suburbs are barren, alien places for people from other cultures & they struggle to fully integrate.
