MetroCoal selects candidates for Indian coal partnership
The Australian coal MetroCoal is causing an uproar in India, host country of the three groups bidding for a stake in Junior.

Reliance Power, Essel Mining and RPG Group MetroCoal were chosen as finalists for the purchase of two thermal coal blocks with proven reserves of 1.2 billion tons.

The winning company will partner with Australia to develop the fields, and a final decision on the choice will be made in the coming months.

The areas are in the region of the Surat Basin in Queensland, and are contiguous to the filing of Wandoan coal, Xstrata.
