I tend to agree with you as I posted recently.

There is often this tendency to frame the technical predictions with hedged comments in place to allow the SP to basically go up or down and still seem like it was fulfilling the predictions. There's also the complicating factor at play that when a public prediction is made on a forum like this, the more respected the person posting, the more chance that the SP will be influenced by his public remarks, so there can be an element of "self-fulfilling prophecy" going on too.

No doubt there are situations where the future movements this way or that become more statistically likely, but in those situations common sense tends to have just as much chance of being right too.

However, I have found some of the posts from chartists interesting in that they provide a framework of formal jargon to help one describe what is going on, and I do think that has merit, in that prior to analysing something one must first define it...
