Got some more data off the OCC which sheds some light on the water being produced from these wells in Pawnee county, also a lot of other good data points -
Abunda 1-21h -
Tahara 1-28h
As you can see from this -
- The water being produced from each well is basically identical
- The GOR's (gas to oil ratio) are similar
- Choke sizes are the same
The big difference is obviously the production rates and also the fracture treatment amounts are significantly less in Abunda 1-21h as the lateral length was cut short (this was not announced by RFE but i picked it up from anomalies in the announcements made) A possible dud lateral drill at Abunda 1-21h could be a reason for the poor production rates compared with Tahra 1-28h only some 50 feet away.
This was announced by RFE some months ago now -
"The first few hundred feet of the lateral in this well have exhibited some what different drilling conditions to the Tahara #1-28H well (which was drilled 50 feet to the south of this well). It appears that the fracturing in the productive interval is more pronounced in this well than that observed in the Tahara #1-28H well (located on the same drill pad). This high level of fracturing is indicative of high deliverability and is a feature of some of the more productive wells in the play.
In light of these different drilling conditions the Company will bring in a second rig (more suited to these conditions) to finish the lateral in the Abunda #1-21H well."
The shut in pressures at Abunda were considerably higher than Tahara's (and the highest ive seen recorded in this play) this could be caused by the pronounced fracturing in the first few hundred feet of the lateral. This could actually be acting as hindrance in unloading /producing the well as the pressure at the face of the formation in the well bore is considerably higher than that of the rest of the well bore length/lateral ie at a lower pressure.
One would think that it has to be a mechanical fault not a geological anomaly, as Tahara's IP was relatively good and has been producing well for months now.
