I say this with respect and don't mean to offend anyone. All life lost in a war is a precious waste. At an earlier age I couldn't relate to the victims, WWII etc were more of a history lesson, an era of yesterday.
Afghanistan is a war that's 'in your face.' The coverage is relentless. When another soldiers dies it stops me and makes me think. These guys are close my my age with similar family make up, young kids. The sun shines for me today but a cloud has moved over their families.
It would be nice if they all came home but we know before they leave that it's not possible.
