    Fair point about the lack of liquidity during the GFC.

    I noticed a couple of HC posters today suggested that it may fall. Fortycentsworth on the ASX general thread suggested that this was the top and woteva on the gold thread suggested it could fall to 60c.

    I can kind of see where they're coming from because the world economy seems to be slowing down quite a bit and in January the US tax cuts expire and budgetary restraints kick in. That's in addition to yet another debate over increasing the US debt limit around this time along with the transition period to the next president.

    Having said that the AUD has been in high demand of late because we are seen as something of a safe haven because our banks are rated AAA, our low national debt and we actually pay interest.

    I was thinking like you that it would be unlikely to go below 80c, because the world's perception of us has changed a bit from GFC.
