Hi
I think part of this was covered where I posted that median rent in Sydney for flats was closing in on houses, ie, units now $470pw v $500pw. A response to my post is that more units are going up in pricey areas v houses in less expensive areas, resulting in this median figure.
I tend to think that the rent differential is closing in also as a result of the movement to unit living. Life seems to be getting busier and there is a trend towards not wanting to do all the things required to maintain a house. There was a stage where I wanted the big block and house but not now, too little time and too many things to do. The obvious advantages of a house and land are not that attractive to me now.
I live in a villa with a decent & very private courtyard so it is a compromise for us.
Anyway, all the best
