I gotta ask myself,
would I be content if I were happy all the time?
Probably not.
because being happy all the time requires a reason for being happy, it requires action.
If I perform an act of loving kindness, I feel content and therefore happiness.
Just as I've taken an extremely satisfying breath, I soon discover, I need another. ( I'm a poet )
It is the same with living, the need to perform acts of loving kindness is regular and necessary not just for your own enrichment but for the recipients well being.
As you breathe you take in what you need and as you breathe out you give back what you can. Don't concern your self with the worthiness of the receiver. It's your intention that is holy.
