"most families wont give a shit about $8-$15 per month"...
well.. see theres this little thing called the economic crisis.......
No but seriously, my main point is that the first things to go when families/people are hit hard, is entertainment, gym and extras (luxury items)..
As you can see by the numbers released: QFX has a poor business model currently... Its total subscriber numbers have dropped despite a number of key deals and its expenses have risen exponentially.. meaning they will have to increase fees or lower costs.. which 1 is easier when you are trying to be the fore-front of content?
Furthermore, how is QFX better for mining towns with horrible internet than foxtel which relies on copper cable??????
I dont think you even know what youre talking about if you think mining camps have good enough internet for streaming.
Illegal or not illegal, piracy is far more attractive because of the download in advance option, you don't rely on internet after the first viewing. Unlike QFX where you have to download upon each view. P2P also has a better connection for download, because it can use the connection of 1000's of seeds (peers) rather than just 1 QFX business server..
Netflix succeeded for a variety of reasons and even it now is having to adopt its content:-
Internet speeds in the US far exceed australia
Netflix has a diversified service, which often hosts live sport as well as movies etc
Netflix moved in prior to the Torrent age (for want of a better term) and has a much larger user base.. and what I mean by this is in the US, 1% penetration is 4million, in australia 1% penetration is 200k..
I just dont see QFX moving in, this late in the game, unless cheap NBN speed networks become available.. atm, internet is too slow and/or too expensive.
