A very good question!
For what it's worth I believe scenario 2 will play out.
There are some substantial short positions and the shorts have been pinning LYC to mat.
There are also a number of interested parties waiting on the catalyst to hold the shorts to account. This I believe they will do and will not let them off lightly.
