Australia needs to affirm its sovereignty & declare its independence of voice. In theory the heavy lifting in that regard falls to our PM & FM - not to the leader of the Oppposition.
As a guest in China Tony Abbott should have demonstrated at least a modicum of cultural sensitivity & respect. Instead his mouth & handshake revealed his archaic underlying values & colonial era prejudices.
IMO Bob Carr is not the answer as FM; little more than a pip-squeak really!
