this talk about tax losses makes me laugh... isn't the overall aim of investing making profit? IMO yes and if I pay taxes that means I made profit, simple.
All that talk about tax losses is IMO an excuse for the lack the of your own discipline demonstrated by not adhering to strict stop losses and that other white elephant called "averaging down" when it's evident to "let go".
Saving taxes is done thru other measures and any decent, qualified accountant will point you in the right direction...
