You don't accumulate $3 trillion in reserves by paying overs for anything. The little I know about the Chinese way of business is they, like everybody, like having a "win" in a deal, not paying us shareholders a big tip just for goodwill.
In my opinion, they will try close this deal for as little as possible.
As we nervously approach the deadline, I get comfort from the fact CDB funded Hanlong's initial holding, to not complete the transaction would see their security position well underwater.
