That's a very good point Voltaire .I remember my Labour friends dribbling with excitement when Rudd was elected foreseeing a new era of accountability and optimism, political vision and whatever else yadda yadda yadda . My simple point was that the last labour leader to win office coming into uncertain economic times was Scullin in 1929 and we all know how that turned out
My personal view is that they all manage to stuff up in about equal measure ,though have more smarts than others and if the economic times are good history generally judges them kinder than the poor sods who are dealt a tough hand
