I saw Harry Jenkins do his farewell interview on the 730 report. Asked about giving up the speakership he replied with a lot of waffle that fooled no one.
What happened was clear. He was pushed aside to free the chair for Mr Slipper. Even ALP figures are not denying it. It is what history will remember him for
He should not have carried on the story about wanting to spend more time on the backbench. He should not have given the interview or refused to discuss the issue.
