I think its a form of algorathm trading can be used to drop the price of a stock by taking out the low offers with little nibbles then loading up with sells that then can easlily be pulled.
Makes buyers think the sell side is loaded.
The flash crash on the DOW about 2 years ago was caused by bot trading where the algorathm program failed.
It should be stopped but ASIC seem to have no teeth, and it is putting retail investors off investing in stocks.
Probably be even worse if PGI gets listed on the TSX.
There are a number of ways retail investors are being screwed the way placements are made to funds and Sophisticated investors rather than smaller investors is questionalble with the ease retail investors could supposedly make funds available for placements via internet banking ie paypal. Also site visits available Fund managers but not retail investors is unfair especiallly when the MDs of some companies fail to respond to phone calls of retail investors.
I guess I am a bit peaved with a few companies at the moment.
