Different case with IAU: they had cash exceeding their market cap, and for reasons unknown, got locked out by persons that were then unknown to them, so they got a person with some influence to support them- he'll probably get his money back too- in spades.
If SRQ gets a white knight, they'll have to pay off $108m debt or get debt forgiveness. If they took over SRQ with a current market cap of $35m + $108m debt, it would be a base of $143m + takeover premium. Could happen, I guess, but other companies are cashed up, without debt, and are struggling themselves.
Asset sales seem on the cards, but the company needs to pay off its current debts- not just get $50m more mezzanine finance.
