I agree with your sentiment JID. To me, MCP has just sufficient profitability at around 11.3% ROE, but this doesn't leave a lot of slack if profits fall further. Cash flow is better than this, which helps if things do get a bit worse.
However, I also agree they are priced for failure. When I add grossed-up dividends to reinvested earnings, MCP is earning me around 20%. Most of its products are rather resilient to economic woes, so these earnings and dividends are enough to keep me invested.
