Jones like others have no knowledge about the technicalities of fibre and just bang on talking rubbish.
So far there is no wider spectrum than light and is also why fibre is unlikely to ever be obsolete - ie it has infinite spectrum through the colours available, is unaffected by magnetic interferene, and extremely secure. It is costly (because of labour required to instal) however.
By comparison radio is limited frequency, badly affected by weather, topography, distance, magnetic interference, and relatively poor security to name a few. It benefits in that coverage in sparse populated areas is far cheaper.
I guess when China finds something magical to take over from light it will become obsolete but I doubt that will be any time soon.
