Lets talk psychological science. For the sake of simplification i'll call it "the opposite being true"

Example:

A superficial, extroverted socialite calls a conservative introvert "boring" and "no fun" when in fact it is the extroverted socialite who is in reality "Boring and superficial"... So the accuser is all the things he/she is labelling of the accused. Many songs are written about such mentality - "Pink" does a good one I have heard.

ANYHOW, the irony of this whole.. (what did you call yourself? "Greenforestfairy?") lets call it (for arguments sake) an "environmental" debate over the impacts of the Coal Seam Gas industry are that the whole Coal Seam Gas industry was formed by "environmentalists" like myself.

YES -- that's right! This may be a shock to you but we all love our environment. In fact those who know me have a photo of me hugging a real tree!

The problem with people who call themselves "environmentalists" is they are unwittingly HARMING the environment by trying to block well thought out plans by other people who have worked for years and years to come up with real practical solutions to our energy requirements whilst protecting and ENHANCING our much loved environment.

Sadly, as in so many cases in life, the opposite is true.

So how do we extract the energy we need to feed a planet of growing population with the least environmental footprint??

Massive Open Cut Coal Mines? Hell no! I wouldn't want to see that? Would you?

What if there was a way to extract power out of coal without digging it all up?? There would be enough to power us in Australia and export to other nations. If we did it fast enough, we could materially reduce the terrible pollution all over the world and the technology and infrastructure exists to put this into practice right now!

What are we waiting for? Well we have to be careful. Consider all the variables we could imagine when designing the extraction methods. Ensuring the risk of environmental impacts and/or harm is minimised. Expert scientists, indeed all people who very much LOVE our environment. People who have families, Australian people who want to see their kids grow up in a nice clean Australia. I hate to shock you but THAT is representative of The Coal Seam Gas industry.

When you lose the anger, lose the conspiracy and realise Coal Seam Gas companies are compassionate people also, you will sleep well at night. :)
