All the brokerages I am familiar with have their clients sign a contract that allows them to request back their borrowed shares at any time. For example, if the broker sees that the SP has risen then the client's debt has risen too. In that case if the client does not have enough other securities to cover the debt, the broker can cover the client's borrowed shares at any time for any market price.
This is called short squeeze. Could happen soon.
