If George Soros did buy into Face-book then I agree fully with you that was not a good move. I guess it also proves that no matter how smart you are or how much money you have you can still make a bad investment decision.
I see these big name gold purchases as just anecdotal interest only and would not automatically follow people into something simply because of their name or reputation. I never gave the Face-book IPO any consideration at all I just could not see the value or how they could ever make a profit.
The 180 degree turn around by Warren Buffet was interesting given his views on gold not that long back. Had he made his move into Gold back in 2002 as some did he would now be in a great position. However; at this late stage and if you are correct in your predictions on Gold and it moves back below $1,000.00 he certainly won’t look like the smartest man in the room! Personally I think we don’t need to worry about George and Warren at this stage; however, I still believe even they would be better off with physical gold and not the ETF or other instruments that require one to put ones trust into the hands of ones fellow man. “If you can’t trust your bank manager who can you trust!”
I am pleased that we have good quality aircraft manufactures that also hold safety in such high regard and diligent people to operate them I just feel they may be missing an opportunity to increase their profits.
I also hold the view that people with responsible jobs should be rewarded for their efforts in particular when an airline pilot or other person has my personal safety in his or her hands I would like to think of them well paid for that level of responsibility. I believe that many here like me would not be comfortable if our fully qualified pilot was feeling drowsy after putting in a few extra shifts flipping burgers to make ends meet or even qualified for food stamps!
At least you’re other jobs as a property land lord, small farmer and self-sustaining food producer is a little more relaxing and I commend you for your efforts there.
I am sure that when the time comes and the brown stuff hits the fan both you and I will manage to get by just by two different ways I guess.
Good luck to you Sir and all others in their personal preparations for what I feel could be somewhat of a difficult time as the money printing and market fixings collapse in a heap over the next year or two.
