Shanghai. August 10. INTERFAX-CHINA - China's alumina imports saw strong growth in July as domestic producers cut output amid tight bauxite supplies after Indonesia introduced export restrictions on the aluminum ore.
Imports of alumina jumped 48.39 percent month-on-month to 460,000 tons, show preliminary customs data released Friday. Bauxite supplies have come under pressure since China's largest supplier Indonesia introduced export restrictions on a range of metal ores in May, prompting domestic alumina producers to curb output.
