Keep in mind that a stop loss won't help if there are no buyers at that price. A stop loss should NOT be viewed as a guaranteed exit point, just a probable and desired exit point.
I don't use them myself but in the distant past when i tried them, sometimes they worked & other times the market just fell right past them and i was still left holding the shares.
A stop loss also helps shorters and SP manipulators. When a significant investment is involved, close day to day attention is desirable if possible so that you decide if & when & why to sell.
