And the link below shows the government is hell bent on removing single mother payments when their youngest child turns eight.
There are also laws that state you can't leave a child under 12 alone at home. So what happens if a single mum has a child who is home sick and she has to go to work? No child care centre will take a sick child. What if she can't knock off work by the time child care centre closes? Shift workers are not always covered by child care centre times.
Not all single mothers have family close by to help either.
This seems yet another badly thought out policy that will end up with greater poverty because mum gets sacked from her job because she also can't leave a sick child alone at home.
If they made the cut off when the youngest turns 12, that would at least co-incide with child safety laws.
