Just to correct a possible misconception. The only 'welfare' farmers get is the same as anyone else can apply for if they are desperate.

Tax concessions are not welfare, and there is no way any farmer can spend or eat them. That's a silly statement.

As I said, if you take away the tax concessions, the price of food will skyrocket many times more than the tax concessions cost.
