I.E also has 'in private browsing' and Firefox has private browsing as well (ctrl-shift-P) and while these have limited usefulness I'm not sure they do a damned thing if you are intercepted at the ISP level. Now you can use a VPN (make sure it's not a U.S. based one that logs IP data) but as soon as you post something they'll get to you somehow. And all of that does nothing to stop them intercepting your emails.
So I guess the best you can do at this stage is use a VPN, Firefox with Ghostery, adblock and noscript. I have no idea how to protect the privacy of your emails. Oh and stay away for facetwit and the like.
