I would stop short of belittling Skol yet I do not understand him at all. He has taken a lousy line with me and lost all respect I might automatically accord him however. This has nothing to do with his view either. His idea of fun does not make for constructive discussion IMO. I tried that and soon realized it was futile.
Somebody asked what proof any gold bug had that the POG would skyrocket. I am not a bug I am an analyst and an investor and in the right conditions I am a trader. There is no proof before any event the question itself is wrong IMO. Conditions are perfect for this to happen but there will never be proof that is not realistic there are only probabilities as far as I see it.
Another statement by Timber - gold is not money: correct. I am not a 'bug' and differ from many gold enthusiasts. Until I can pay for food at the local supermarket with gold or silver I will not consider them money.
If you want a topic for discussion how about we tackle the claim that commercial banks can print money, conjure it out of thin air to loan you against an asset you bring to the transaction. I have seen continued claims by some of my colleagues that this is so. I disagree has anybody got thoughts on this?
