Pretty much all good and moving along. No great surprises, just continual progress. Moderate/severe tbi enrollment still slow, but measures taken to speed things up haven't kicked in yet.
I was most pleased to read that the Rett phase 2 is still due to start this year. Whilst as cortinaboy pointed out, there are still lots of hurdles to come, this really is an exciting trial. The science is pretty compelling.
The company stated that the trial will take a year, which it may do, but indications of success may come pretty quick. And if that starts to happen, enrollments will be think and fast.
Efficacy is going to be easier to identify in this trial than most, as the patients themselves will be their own performance indicators. Parents and carers are sure to recognise the smallest improvements too.
Safety looks to be not an issue either (another major failing of clinical trials).
We also have no competetion. Some drugs do show efficacy, but not an efficacy high enough to show clinical benefit against existing treatments. Again, this is not an issue for us in our Retts trial.
So in summary, fairly easy to demonstrate efficacy, safe and no competing benchmark to beat. That's certainly lowered the bar on many hurdles, now we just need to show that the science actually works!
Far more likely than a 100-1 shot, which is how we are priced at the moment I feel.
