I haven't seen you on the boards before, but as an ex pom myself I have to agree with you.
I have read and read and read and researched, and I can only come to the same conclusion as yourself.
NO-ONE in their right mind would copy the policies of previous left governments (such as the UK under Blair) unless of course they WANT the very same outcome - open borders, huge numbers on welfare, etc.
If they want the same outcome, there must be a reason.
I don't necessarily agree with all the conspiracy theorists out there, but there is definitely an agenda going on.
The thing is, the labour politicians here are all in cahoots with the labour politicains in UK and USA. Therese Rein (Rudd's wife) made her money winning contracts from UK government.
Rudd immediately threw the country into unprecedented and arguably unecessary debt (perhaps some stimulus would have been warranted, but not the eye watering amount handed out).
They threw open the borders, like the UK. Note they have no UK version of 'Border Control' TV program, because there IS NONE. They all watch the Oz version.
Rudd immediately tried to set up a new asia type union/bloc based on the EU.
Blair obviously did his job well, did someone's bidding well, and is now being rewarded like a good boy on 20 million a year, as 'peace envoy' to the middle east (you have to laugh if it wasn't so tragic!) and as 'financial adviser' to the banks - yes, this is the socialist, wanting to make a fairer society for all. What a joke.
OK, that was bit of a rant from me.
But truly, I tink people who have lived in the UK see all the parallels that perhaps are not evident to Australians.
