Wireline logging is done pretty much all the time over the strata of interest, to gain info., whether hydrocarbons indications pre-logging or none. Data useful to other near-by targets in the same lease, seismic recon etc...
There are no gushers in the modern oil industry (unless disaster), they will always wire-line to determine what is there, unless the well is totally stuffed, and economically you can't afford the time.
