    Seals hi,

After the devaluation caused by the sanctions, I doubt we will get any money at all. They are short of FX now (although their central bank reserves of FX may well appear to be very large, I expect it is all earmarked for more important things) and their oil production is at a (multi?) decade long low now. It is ironical that if they had let us develop Mehdiabad they would have a more sanctions resistant economy now.

The combination of the leadership challenging the world order, and calling for the destruction of another country and developing nuclear weapon know-how and having an indefensible ideology so at loggerheads with the West will lead to them being attacked.

As for the comments of their military officials I think some of them don't know what it is like to be in Teheran without hot water, petrol, telephone, internet and electricity in Winter and with supermarket shelves rapidly emptying. The will to support their Govt. after every avenue of diplomacy has been tried may not be so strong, particularly if they get the message no one is coming to steal their natural resources or impose a foreign culture on them.

I won't be surprised if UCL launches a face saving multi million dollar legal claim, but I think the situation will be resolved by regime change before any legal process completes its course. Just my view.

Below is an article from Iran Daily (12/08/12) about Mehdiabad that I have just found.
