Now that you've mentioned the scotts, I was sitting next to an elderly scottish couple on the way back from the UK (they were going to Adelaide). The old guy had a bad short-term memory problem and his wife kept elbowing him every time he tried to speak with me. Finally I chided her. "Leave him alone, " I said. "Let him speak." That's when she told me about his memory problem. I shrugged. "No worries, let him speak, anyway."
Well, the old boy must have asked me about a dozen times what part of Scotland I was. When I'd answer that I'm from Australia, he'd answer, "is that near Adelaide, then?"
Poor bugger. I wonder what sort of life those two had back home.
