It really is a tough one.

I'll make it very clear that I'm not accusing, nor am I of the opinion that Fortescue has done anything wrong.

My point relates to markets in general. Information asymmetry is an issue and has probably been around since markets were invented. In the perspective of fairness it is most certainly unwelcome.

Punters in here all agree that investing and trading is a speculative business. However the events of yesterday (and others) highlight the extreme outcomes that are derived from the present information systems that we have.

The general thematic being that what we saw yesterday could easily be argued as not a feature of a healthy and informed marketplace.

I don't propose any solution at this point, however I'm certainly of the opinion that it needs to be discussed more, particularly in the high speed media age we live in.

I'm just a supporter of market integrity and find the issues relating to achieving this very interesting.

What I think I'm hearing though in the discussions I've had on here and with other traders is that investors are somewhat resigned to the fact that information asymmetry does exist and nothing can be done.

Whichever way your view is, I think that we can probably do better at managing these risks and promote discussion as how us retail investors can be a part of this process.
