Just a thought, but they could be trying to sync the ann with COP. (which would be a good sign).
More generally, it's probably just because they're not ready to announce, and know how volatile the shares get, so are trying to do the right thing and keep a lid on it until they can release with confidence.
Worse case..The results aren't good, and they're looking for something they can spin.
