re: and so it closes just...oneday123... oneday123...
TOX is one of the largest positions in my "speculative" portfolio...my "specultive" portfolio makes up 30% of my total portfolio...as such, TOX actually makes up only some 6% of my total portfolio.
Please give me some credit.
As for stop losses...you misunderstand me...I did not say one should "not practice stop losses" as you suggested...what I said was have a stop loss strategy, but leave the "automatic" orders for the investment grade stocks.
Yesterday was a prime example of why.
Further, when I say I "have a feel for it"...I am not talking about gut feelings, voodo, or even looking to the gods for some kind of devine intervention...what I am talking about is hundreds of hours of research, phone calls to the company, phone calls to the their clients (and future clients), discussions with some of their major shareholders...and of course, constant monitoring of the daily trading patterns.
Finally, you suggest hindsight is a wonderful thing...I am not talking in hindsight. I clearly stated immediately after the sell-down yesterday that I was buying at every opportunity and that in my opinion, there was no reason for the sell-off.
I accept however that nothing is certain in this world...
My first reaction to the selling yesterday was probably the same as everyone else...I thought there must be something very very wrong. My second reaction was to ring a few contacts...just to make sure the plant haddn't burnt down, or that a plane hadn't flown into the head office or something...and once I was satisfied this was not the case, I began buying.
Experience has shown me that this is how one should react to such events...not knee jerk selling which is nothing but a reaction to on-screen depth.
I put it to you that as a result of yesterdays action, you are now bitter and feel the need to vent your spleen...go ahead if it makes you feel better.
Perhaps your time might be better spent researching your next investment a little more thoroughly, so that when another such event takes place, you might have a better "feel" for what might actually be going on and not be rounded up like a sheep.
Cheers!
