Drilling to recommence on Avebury Nickel Sulphide Proj
16-05 1309
Allegiance Mining NL is about to recommence drilling on its Avebury
nickel sulphide deposit near Zeehan in western Tasmania.
A contract for 3,500 metres of core drilling worth approximately
$250,000 has been awarded to Zeehan based Almac Drilling Pty Limited.
Drilling, which is scheduled to commence on Monday 20th May, will be
undertaken by two rigs working 12 days per fortnight on a single
shift basis.
The program has three principal objectives:
- determine the potential of the South Avebury deposit to extend
further west of the currently identified resource.
- test for shallower (near surface) extensions of Central and North
Avebury.
- infill the drilling pattern on the current South Avebury resource
to facilitate a re-estimation of this resource at a higher confidence
level ahead of any decision to embark upon underground mine
development.
First results of the program are anticipated in late June/early July
and drilling is due for completion in September 2002.
