Dear Sir / Madam,
COMMENCING AIRBORNE GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY
Curnamona Energy Limited is pleased to announce that it will shortly commence a
helicopter borne HoistEM (TM) survey on its Curnamona Craton tenements. The
survey is being flown by WorleyParsons GPX Pty Ltd, a Subiaco WA based
geophysical company that specializes in airborne electromagnetic techniques (see
www.worleyparsonsgpx.com.au). Based on previous experience, it is anticipated that
the electromagnetic survey will respond to salty water in buried palaeochannels and
therefore pinpoint targets for follow up drilling. The survey is being conducted over
the central section of the Yarramba palaeovalley, which is believed to hold the
highest promise for a new uranium discovery. Dr Bob Johnson, Chairman of
Curnamona Energy commented that “any specific target areas identified will rank as
first priority drilling targets in our forthcoming drilling programme”.
In other developments, Curnamona Energy’s General Manager, Mr Mark Randell
advises that the Company has secured its own 4WD mounted down-hole radiation
logging unit and has purchased a second-hand mud-drilling rig. Mr Randell explained
that “ these two pieces of equipment are vital for testing palaeochannel uranium
mineralisation – the rig to drill holes that are kept open with thick mud and the
logging unit to quickly test the holes for radioactivity produced by uranium trapped in
the channel sands.” He said “having our own drilling and logging equipment, which
must always work in tandem, will be a huge advantage in scheduling exploration
activities, considering the current shortage of contractors. Given that Curnamona
Energy plans to drill over 400 exploration holes during the next eighteen months, we
expect that ownership of the equipment will be an extremely cost-effective option
giving us the flexibility to test key targets how and when we want”.
Subject to completion of purchases and timely delivery of all equipment, Curnamona
Energy expects to commence drilling on its Yarramba palaeovalley uranium targets
during the current quarter. Aboriginal heritage clearance surveys have already been
completed for the proposed drilling areas.
Yours faithfully
