I've only really taken notice of Golden Week for the last couple of years. My observation is that it messes up commodity prices in the lead up as some destocking occurs. After all why re-stock when you're going to have a week off? And then everything "normalises" in the 2nd week of October. And I'm particularly interested this year as there is a lot of commentary that this third quarter is the bottom in slowing growth so perhaps it will also serve as a line under the economic slowdown? I'm interested whether anyone else has any observations to share.
