This is a good a place as any.
I wouldn't be getting startled by these objections as they are baseless and emotive. To be granted a hearing they must show they will be personally affected, or at least provide substantial objective evidence of possible harm. Neither have done so.
In my research I found a few interesting papers, one of which is from Kate Sweeney, counsel for the National Mining Association (NMA). Admittedly it is a couple of years old but still worth a read. Let's look at a few of the comments in this very detailed response that apply to comments made these baseless and emotive protest letters.
Firstly drinking water Aquifers:
"Pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act and EPA's UIC regulations, no ISR operations can occur in aquifers that are not exempted from serving as a source of public drinking water."
Strata is not proposing to be in any drinking water aquifer, so any comment along these lines is totally irrelevant.
Next Air Quality:
"On July 10, 2009, NRC Staff presented a paper to the commission, entitled Staff Assessment of Groundwater Impacts from Previously Licensed In-Situ Uranium Recovery Facilities in which it was determined that there has been no significant impacts to groundwater from past ISR operations.".
The writers of these protesting letters won't get a hearing based on what they put in their submission. I have also looked at the pending hearing and I also believe that will go the same way.
That aside from what I can see this stock is presenting an outstanding buy currently, as far as I am concerned it has been way oversold. I also notice that the major shareholder Pala has handed their shares over to a thrid party. This is looking very much like a hedged stock lending agreement. If it is then it would have been shorted by the borrowing party. This being the case a major re-rating would occur once the shares are bought back to handed back to Pala.
For mine this is a clear buy signal at these levels, especially if right about the stock lending agreement. Is the latter the "TSI" a poster was on about here, or is he/she truly a clairvoyant or maybe simply the best technical analyst in the world markets? Take your pick.
