    PD et all,

If I am allowed to add my two bob's worth.

From what I know, the width of a corridor for an oil or gas pipeline, depends on the individual States rules. But it also depends on the environmental impacts that it creates.

In WA for instance, the average width is between 20 and 30 metres. While it is also recorded that for the Oakajee project, the requirements were to be a width of 50 metres.

With QGC, it was requested that the width would have to be of a 40 metres corridor.

In Tasmania for instance it appears that it is a total different kettle of fish.
Below is an extract of order 2003 - Reg 4:

"GAS PIPELINES (PIPELINE CORRIDORS) ORDER 2003 - REG 4

    4. Planning corridor width

    (2) A planning corridor is declared on either side of the pipeline.
    (3) The width of each planning corridor referred to in subclause (2) is equal to one metre for every millimetre of the outer diameter of the pipeline at the location where the width of the planning corridor is being calculated.
    (4) The width of the planning corridor referred to in subclause (2) is measured –
    (a) from the centre-line of the pipeline; and
    (b) at a right angle to the pipeline.
Displayed and numbered in accordance with the Rules Publication Act 1953."

Now consider what the width requirements for a corridor under those regulations woule be if we were to say that a pipeline of just a single foot (Appro. 300 millimetres), was required.
    The mind boggles here.

So, from the above, it is clear that there is not a single set of rules for every pipeline to be constructed.

The only way that we will be able to determine what that corridor width required for MEL, would be when the proper application has been lodged with the proper authority, and solely at their discretion.
Sure, We can lodge a request for a width corridor in our development application, but, it would be finally for them (The proper Government, and/or Local Goverenment Authority), to either accept it or deny it.

I hope that the above will help.

    Cheers
