The point about Ronsterm is that he likes to try to win a debate against someone who often has different opinions to him/his philosophies - he is defending his patch, so to speak and it also becomes a bit of a challenge. However, when one reads his latter points, they often become washed down and shift away from his original "opposite" stance, more towards, in my case here, close to the point I was trying to make.
Case in point:
You said: Video surveillance is one thing, but cross transfer of personal data/ details and access to it for the government is totally unacceptable. If governments suspect you of criminal activity then the same process(IMO a much tougher process) of getting a search warrant to search your home should be applied." To which Ron said: Totally agree there. What worries me is that safeguards can be worn down over time then completely disregarded. What also worries me is the level of complacency surrounding these changes.
Well that is close to my original comment. Further, I later said that Civil Libertarians should change tack and focus on ensuring that good checks and balances are in place to ensure this data is secure and that tight processes are in place to control who can access it and when.
This discussion is a classic example of where I didn't troll - Ron actually did the stalking - I didn't post here because he and the regulars had posted - don't think they did - scary - lucky its anonymous here or Ron could be on my doorstep for a regular debate - lol (he might get a scary shock himself) - with HC, for example, the checks and balances appear to be in place.
We live in an information overload age - let's be sensible and come up with ways to control it, rather than putting our heads in the sand and saying "go away"
