Hi HappyCats,
‘But can someone please remind me why one Ni deposit should be loved so more than any other. ‘
Nova – a new style of Ni/Cu deposit, and potentially a new nickel province
Just like the Proterozoic Fraser Range Complex fringes the SE margin of the Archaean Yilgarn craton – so does the circum-Superior belt fringe the Archaean craton creating the Cape Smith Nickel Belt in Canada.
The Cape Smith hosts 3 giant nickel deposits – Voisey’s Bay (35mt @ 3.5%Ni); Raglan Deposits (35mt @ 2.9%Ni) & Thompson (120mt @ 2.1%Ni)
Geotech/structural logging indicates that Nova presents:
- Crystalline & competent hostrock (unlike most WA nickel mines)
- Good RQD (Rock Quality Designation) and rock mass properties
- Very few late brittle fractures
IE: very good mining properties
Recovery & concentrate quality work (preliminary)
- No arsenic
- all Ni in pentlandite
- very coarse grain size, no high MgO minerals
IE: high recoveries + high payable concentrate
Source: extracts from SIR presentation to Nickel Conference released today
+ PGE’s + early indications of high cobalt credits will underpin robust opex parameters.
Trust this helps.
