Bit of a random comment, but I saw a Malaysian Minister on TV a few days ago expressing regret that the matter had been dealt with as a political issue instead of an industry issue.
In trying (and failing) to dig up the interview with a quick Google (not that interested to keep digging as a non-holder) I happened to see there seems plenty of 'stop Lynas' political activism going on, but if Malaysia wants to be serious and mature about business, it will make a rational decision.
Excuse my ignorance, is the reason for setting up the plant in Malaysia just a capital and operating cost decision - I guess it was, but don't know - superficially seems odd to ship it out to process - too expensive to value-add minerals here in Australia - probably?
No real need for an answer, seems pretty self-evident and just bored at home and reading a few threads.
Seems to be a quid invested in the plant and hard to appreciate from my 'drive-by' why it would not ultimately start churning out the product it is designed for.
