It has been reported that about 30,000 lives have been lost in 18 months in the ever-developing tragedy that is Syria. The West expresses shock, horror, and demands Assad step down. But why the hypocritical US concern there, when 47,000+ have died in Mexico, slaughtered by the drug cartels, right on the US doorstep? http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/12/world/americas/mexico-updates-drug-war-death-toll-but-critics-dispute-data.html
And a lot of weaponry that enabled this slaughter was sold to the drug cartels by the US ATF in insane "sting" operations. http://publicintelligence.net/atf-operation-helped-supply-mexican-drug-cartels-with-weapons/
So why not a similar western outcry against the slaughter in Mexico? Could it be that the US already controls Mexican oil/gas, but not that in Syria? There must be an answer to this apparent hypocrisy.
