yes you are correct .. I meant to say that all profits are regarded as income of the trading business and taxed at the marginal rate. CGT would operate the same wouldn't it? That is I would pay tax on gains at the marginal rate?? Anyway I reduce my "income" (profit over losses) by the strategies I outlined.
Losses are offset against gains as a "trader" whether an individual or thru a company. My accountant advises against buying and selling shares thru a company (I have a company for a family consulting business) I think if I remember correctly beacuse you can't claim the 50% CGT reduction for holding over 12 months and because you can't index costs in the same way?? I could getting confused there though. I am wondering if my CFd trading shouldbe done thru a company though.
