a long time ago, back in my distant past, i commenced my tertiary education in physics under a full scholarship. A part of the scholarship was in the US, seqended with NASA, who were part of the US research "team" in Nuclear physics...anyway to cut through the waffle, back then all the money was going into nuclear power as the replacement for fossil fuels, and the main research has continued in that era. Projected "run out time" of fossil fuels was 2090, with unstainability of existing resources from an economic perspective 2018.

But don't hold your breath on a rapid takeup as the main resaerch effort is in Fusion, not Fision. But In June 2005, it was announced that the first experimental Fusion reactor , ITER, will be built in Cadarache in Southern France.

Perhaps that is why we have a sudden Uranium interest?
