"5-10 PJ for local consumption. At $6 g/j that's $30-60 million p/a of gas for the Northern Rivers - a community that pays the equivalent to $25-35 g/j at present. Even at $20 g/j the community would save between 25 and 50 million per annum. "
Have I got this right - you are suggesting that MEL, out of the goodness of their hearts, will sell gas locally, at a small margin/ at cost? And you suggest pholk buy a stock with management that would do such a thing?
Of course they won't do any such thing - it would be illegal - and you wouldn't invest in a company you suspected would engage in sucg activity!
As for your "job creation" figures they are meaningless. The only real analysis would be of "job years", ie the quasi-benefit of CSG mining over a period of (say) 20 years as against the long-term loss of jobs in agriculture and tourism. Of course YOU would never make such an analysis, nor would your employer or their representative organisations because the end result would expose the industry's lies where "job creation" is concerned!
