"Seems to me there is blame to share around if we're going to be fair."
I think fairs a weather condition, your bias knows no bounds.
The facts are there, the BMW pre-qualified the major contractors.
Some of whom signed stat decks saying they had paid their subbies, when they hadnt.
Yet others had gone into voluntary administration to avoid paying creditors.
These works were sold to the construction industry as government backed, and with the WA liberal government pre-qualification system in place, payment was thus guaranteed.
While it wont help those now,the class action will no doubt find the right villians,in this debacle,Ive no doubt the government agency at the top of the list will be the WA liberal government BMW department.
They(the libs) could have knocked the money $1.2billion back, having not done so,they and they alone are responsible.
Just a footnote, almost all the BER projects were done well under budget, wonder where the excess went.
