Hi Trees, you are right to point out the differences between men and women, but the reality is that there are also differences within male and female groupings. Some men are are physically strong, some not so, so may be thin, some may be larger, some may be more intellectually endowed. This also applies to women and my view is that none of them ought to be discriminated against whether based on gender or based on those other attributes. We all have our attributes and level of capability but we ought not have to suffer indignity or bullying by those that foolishly believe some are inferior to themselves.
There are people with disabilities that were made fun of and treated badly and we have gone a long way in that regard but even there there can still be issues that arise.
Gender discrimination has been so bad in the past that women and some men have had to fight hard over a long time to achieve a degree of equality for women. You only have reflect on the fact that even the right to vote had to be hard fought for. Even in the public sector the discrimination was rife. I recall someone I knew who worked in a State Government Department and she was so distressed because she wanted to get married but would be forced to give up her job. Thats right, if a woman got married she had to resign immediately even before children were involved.
So while there has been much improvement since, some of that underlying discriminatory, sexist or chauvinist attitude is still there.
As time goes by, more and more women are proving they can make it in areas that were considered beyond their scope. What has prevented them from getting there earlier is the suppression that prevented them from doing so. I would not like to see us heading backwards in that regard and those that show tendencies towards misogyny need to be exposed and tackled. Note, I say tendencies rather that the literal meaning of misogyny as true misogynists would imo be small in number and are likely to be mentally impaired and badly needing psychological help.
